Launching Two New Titles!
On March 26 2026, we celebrated the release of two new learner-led titles: A Beekeeper from Bamyan by H. Dawlatyar and My Exciting Experiences by Bassam Omar - both illustrated by Nina Mercep.
An evening of reflection and connection, we sheltered from the rain and took stock of the incredible work our learners have undertaken and the support we have received along the way. We could not be prouder of these newly published authors, and of our kaiako-illustrator who has lovingly brought these stories to life.
We are so humbled by this ongoing project and we look forward to future launches as our book collection grows! All of our books are available for purchase from our shop.

Learner Book Launch
Publishing a book is a significant milestone, and a launch provides a way to share that success with a supportive community!
Literacy Waitākere recently held our first book launch, inviting community to share and experience unique stories produced by adult learners, nurturing the connections made with readers, early supporters, funders and partners — and break down barriers to learning and creating. We look forward to facilitating more.

Regional PD AI Literacy
Our regional PD AI Literacy event was devised to guide educators on the use of different AI tools to enhance the learning capabilities of diverse students! Educators learned how to explore AI in education — safely, ethically, and in ways that reflect our values in Aotearoa New Zealand.
